It’s been awhile since my last posting hasn’t it? As with all things life has been a bit busy what with being a family man with two young children which sometimes makes juggling work and projects a bit… as they say, higgledy-piggledy.
I know there have been a lot of questions from people asking about my long gestating book. …Or lack thereof.
To those that have asked and have been patiently waiting I say thank you for your patience. Throughout my career I have worked in the creative industry. Most of this has been working as a graphic designer, originally as part of a boutique firm and later as owner of my own studio. Which has kept me rather busy. Within the last year I have had the opportunity to slowly close the door on my design business so that I could concentrate solely on my illustration career. And this is where the dream of my book is to be realized. Last summer I had a solo show featuring my work based on The Thousand Weed Marsh. Almost all the questions asked that night centered on the book. “Do you have a book?” “Is it available for purchase” and “Why don’t you have a book?”
So, where is this book you keep prattling on about you ask? Maybe because I am a bit thick skulled and not the greatest multitasker, obviously the project hasn’t materialized yet. The world of The Thousand Weed Marsh and its stories lie within my mind still. Thankfully though the adventure in creating this book begins this month. Yes, finally this month. Supplies are ready, things are prepped and the development process is on its way.
So what now? I put my nose to the grindstone and will be working on the book; the characters are already created as I am pulling them from my oeuvre of previous illustrations. As I start this process I would gladly love to hear any feedback you might have or encouragement to see the project through. The book will be self published, not only am I the artist but I will design all aspects of the book from front cover through page layout. I am excited and oddly a little hesitant about the whole process and I hope you’ll enjoy it. Let me know your thoughts; would you like to see the development process? You can leave your reply here or via my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mr.rob.bridges Thanks again, I’m very happy and excited about this and I’m looking forward to sharing it with all of you.
